Michael Sher is the former Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of the U.S. division of MAPFRE (BME: MAP), the $26.8B publicly traded global insurance and reinsurance group. Michael, who started his legal career at Ropes & Gray, ranked by Am Law as a top 10 law firm, specializes in contracts and corporate transactions, especially those requiring regulatory approvals.
Michael brings his experience in government service and as a Washington-based government affairs consultant to clients seeking approvals at all levels of government.
Michael graduated from Georgetown University Law Center, magna cum laude and as a member of the Order of the Coif, and from Amherst College, magna cum laude.
The firm delivers a business-oriented approach to the law based on Michael’s leadership experience, including interim CEO positions at two companies and service a corporate director at, among others, an Insurtech joint venture among three publicly traded companies.
